succulent_karoo=Covering the south western fringes of the Orange-Senqu River basin, the Succulent Karoo ecoregion is part of the Deserts and Xeric Shrublands biome.  The Succulent Karoo is a region of unequalled biological diversity worldwide, with over 40% of the 5 000 higher plant species found here occurring nowhere else in the world.  Furthermore, the Succulent Karoo is home to approximately one third of all of the 10 000 succulent plant species on earth.
