nama_karoo=Found in the Afrotropics; part of the Deserts and Xeric Shrublands biome, Nama Karoo is characterised by wide open and arid landscapes with rugged relief. These areas are not known for high levels of species endemism, but do include many types of specialised plants, adapted to the harsh climate. This ecoregion is distributed over the lower regions of the Orange-Senqu River, including parts of north western South Africa and southern Namibia.
