highveld=Part of the Afrotropics region and the Montane Grasslands and Shrublands biome, the Highveld Grasslands cover a large portion of the eastern part of the Orange-Senqu River basin; including the majority of the Vaal River sub-basin. This large, high plateau region borders the Drakensberg in the south and the Karoo and Kalahari in the west. This ecoregion has been drastically impacted by degradation and fragmentation as a result of conversion to agricultural land.
