Socio-economic portraits of the four basin states

The following four pages provide short socio-economic portraits of the basin countries, where the information of the preceding chapters of this theme can be put into context. The portraits also cover the topic of “poverty reduction strategies”. These are developed by the governments to promote broad-based growth and to reduce poverty.

This chapter includes socio-economic portraits for all of the basin states:

• Botswana
• Lesotho
• Namibia
• South Africa.
